On the afternoon of April 17, 2025, Tsinghua University’s PBC School of Finance (PBCSF) held an admissions and engagement event for its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) EMBA and Tsinghua-Cornell Dual Degree MBA programs at the DBS Bank headquarters in Singapore. The event brought together over 40 distinguished professionals from Singapore’s financial, business, and academic sectors. Hosted by Cai Kan, Associate Director of the Center for Finance EMBA, the event featured remarks from Wei Chenyang, Director of the Finance MBA Center and Bian Tingzhu, Executive Director of DBS Private Bank. Zhou Wenjia, Assistant Director of the Center for Finance EMBA, and other Program staff also attended the event.

The gathering offered deep insights into the financial collaboration opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative and showcased the distinctive strengths and educational philosophy of Tsinghua PBCSF’s flagship programs, equipping future leaders to seize opportunities in an evolving global economic landscape.

Wei Chenyang and Cai Kan presented the Finance MBA and BRI EMBA programs, respectively. This marked the first time Tsinghua PBCSF hosted a joint overseas admissions info session for its two premier degree offerings. Through program presentations and interactive discussions, the session provided an in-depth look at the programs’ defining features, the values of the curricula, and how they support enterprise development and professional growth.

Bian Tingzhu, Executive Director of DBS Private Bank, opened the event with welcoming remarks. She highlighted Singapore’s unique role as both a global financial hub and a strategic node in the Belt and Road Initiative, noting the significance of the collaboration with Tsinghua PBCSF. She also emphasized DBS’s long-standing commitment to fostering cross-border financial cooperation, and praised Tsinghua’s strong legacy in financial education and its global outlook. She described the event as a powerful example of industry-academia integration, and expressed optimism about future collaborations in green finance innovation, cross-border investment, and digital talent development—joint efforts that would cultivate strategic, globally-minded financial leaders for the region’s economic integration.

Two alumni from the inaugural BRI EMBA cohort shared their experiences and perspectives. Jason Yeo, founder and chairman of JCS Group, reflected on his four entrepreneurial ventures. Starting from scratch, he built JCS into a company that evolved from mechanical automation into advanced technology development, operations management, and capital strategy. He described himself as an “imperfect architect of a tech enterprise,” underscoring the importance of lifelong learning and drawing personal inspiration from Buddhist philosophy.

Ling Lin, President of Sino-Swiss Holdings (Overseas), introduced his firm’s business model and spoke to the transformative experience of joining the BRI EMBA program. He highlighted the value of learning directly from renowned faculty, engaging with policymakers, visiting innovative companies, and connecting with outstanding peers from around the world—experiences he called both professionally rewarding and personally enriching.

As the Belt and Road Initiative continues to expand, Tsinghua PBCSF’s BRI EMBA and Tsinghua-Cornell Dual Degree Finance MBA programs—two of China’s leading graduate finance programs—will continue to serve as vital bridges between China and the broader BRI countries. Through education, resource sharing, and ecosystem building, the programs are poised to empower a new generation of leaders to navigate and shape the future of global finance.
