Tsinghua PBCSF Belt and Road EMBA Program 2018 held its 4th Module in Jakarta from 20th to 24th March 2019. During the 5 days, students visited Indonesia Stock Exchange, Bakrie Tower and held a panel discussion with local startup entrepreneurs,discussing new economy development in SEA.

At the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), head of Trading and Membership Department, Information Technology Department and Risk Management Department introduced IDX and Indonesian Economic and Capital Market Development. According to them, IDX has the 2nd largest market capitalization next to Thailand with total 624 listed companies. The MSCI Indonesia Index has surpassed MSCI World by more than 70% for the past 10 years and more than 50% of its market players are overseas investors.  

At Bakrie Tower, Aburizal Bakrie, the former chairman of Bakrie Group delivered keynote speech on development of the Group and shared life experiences of his own. According to him, Bakrie Group’s 77 years of success goes to its constant adaptation to changes and ‘give away’ to its people. And now it becomes biggest job creator and tax payer in Indonesia.

Afterwards students joined ‘Pesbuker’, one of the most popular TV live show in Indonesia, and watched Mixed Martial Arts fights, experiencing local culture.

In Tokopedia, students held a panel discussion with local startup entrepreneurs, sharing views on booming business opportunities in Indonesia and how startups can work together to riding on this trend. Andre Soelistyo, President of GO-JEC and Patrick Cao, CFO of Tokopedia moderated the event. They are also students of the Class. In addition, five startup entrepreneurs also joined the panel, including Karaniya Dharmasaputra, Founder and Chairman of Bareksa.com, the Indonesia's first online fund sales APP, Jonathan Sudharta, CEO and Founder of Holadoc, a local healthcare platform, Iman Usman, Chief Product Officer of Ruangguru, the first learning mobile app in Indonesia, Vikra Ijas, Chief Marketing Officer of Kitabisa, a leading healthcare & social fundraising platform and Jefferson Chen, Founder and CEO of ADVANCE.AI , a big data and artificial intelligence company.
